Where South Africa stands
The National Gambling Act regulates gambling nationally, and the provinces license land-based casinos and betting. Online casino games are not among the forms the law licenses, and the National Gambling Board confirmed on 27 February 2026 that they remain illegal nationwide until new legislation is passed.
